Stacey A. Cohen is a GI medical oncologist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington, specializing in gastrointestinal cancers with a focus on colorectal, early-onset, and hereditary forms. She is the co-Director of the Colorectal Cancer and Peritoneal Cancers (HIPEC) multi-disciplinary clinics.

Dr. Cohen earned her M.D. at the University of Michigan, completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the same institution, and pursued a fellowship in Medical Oncology at UW/Fred Hutch. She is board certified in Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Cohen’s research investigates molecular and genetic markers of disease, including circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and other blood-based biomarkers, to refine and personalize cancer therapy. She has applied her interest in genetics to ongoing studies of ctDNA as a novel predictor of outcome, treatment response, and treatment selection.

By studying both inherited and tumor-specific genetic alterations, she seeks to improve treatment precision, enhance patient outcomes, and minimize side effects.
