Dr. Salvatore Provenzano is a medical oncologist at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, where since 2016 he has been dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue and bone sarcomas within the Medical Oncology Unit 2 – Mesenchymal and Rare Tumors.
He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Palermo and completed his specialization in Medical Oncology at the University of Milan.
His clinical and research activities focus on improving care for patients with rare tumors and sarcomas, with a strong commitment to multidisciplinarity and international collaboration. He is the ward coordinator and actively involved in numerous nationally and internationally relevant phase I–III clinical trials. His specific area of expertise includes sarcomas that most frequently affect adolescents and young adults.
Dr. Provenzano plays an active role in the Italian Rare Cancer Network and the institutional multidisciplinary Sarcoma Board. He is also involved in educational activities in collaboration with the European School of Oncology. He has developed a particular interest in psycho-oncology training, contributing as a lecturer in various courses on the subject.
He is a member of ESMO, AIOM, the Italian Sarcoma Group, co-coordinates the European Network of Expertise on Adolescents and Young Adults with Cancer and serves on the Board of Directors of SELNET (Sarcoma European Latin-American Network).
