Mila Petrova is a Medical Oncologist, specializing in thoracic oncology, based in Sofia, Bulgaria as a part of the ESO Certificate of Advanced Studies in Thoracic Malignancies. She completed her specialization in Medical Oncology in Bulgaria with several courses in AKH Vienna and in The Christie, Manchester. Her main area of work is lung cancer and low gastro-intestinal cancer. In 2019 Mila Petrova defended her thesis on „Role of Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio in pts with advanced NSCLC, treated with first line cytotoxic treatment “.

Since 2014 she is working in the Department of Medical Oncology in Nadezhda Hospital, Sofia, Bulgaria and since 2021 she is the Head of the Department. Her expertise spans clinical biomarkers, associated with prognosis in patients with NSCLC, and validation of potential predictive models in the treatment of lung cancer. She has extensive experience in immunotherapy, targeted therapies and combination treatment strategies for lung cancer. Her research contributions include clinical and radiological prognostic and predictive models to better understand the benefit of chemotherapy and immunotherapy in patients with metastatic NSCLC. Additionally, she is collaborating with national strategies to improve quality of life of cancer patients. Since 2020 she is the Head of Bulgarian Association of Medical Oncology and since then the society has been mainly focused on quality of life of cancer patients both in adjuvant and metastatic setting. Recently Dr Petrova is conducting observational studies in characterizing and improving nutritional status in cancer patients.

Mila Petrova is a member of several international scientific societies (ESMO, ASCO, CECOG, IASLC). Between 2013 and 2019 she is the Bulgarian Representative for ESMO Young Oncologist Committee. In 2022 she completed her ESMO training in Leadership Generation Program. Currently she is a member of ESMO Membership Committee, the former ESMO Practising Oncologist Group and the Designated Centers Working Group. Dr Petrova is an author of 30 international and Bulgarian publications.
