Piotr Wojcieszek is an Associate Professor born in 1980 in Zabrze, Poland. He graduated from the Silesian School of Medicine in 2004 and started working in the Radiotherapy Department of MSC Cancer Center and Institute of Oncology, Gliwice, in 2005.

In 2011, he moved to the Brachytherapy Department and became a specialist in Radiation Oncology in the same year. In 2013, he completed his PhD on vestibular schwannoma radiosurgery from MSC Cancer Center Gliwice.

Since 2017, he has been the head of the Brachytherapy Department at MSC National Research Institute of Oncology, Gliwice Branch (formerly MSC Cancer Center Gliwice). Dr. Wojcieszek’s research interests include local prostate cancer recurrence treatment, with a focus on HDR brachytherapy (interventional radiotherapy), skin cancer, and interstitial techniques.

He was elected president of the Polish Brachytherapy Society in 2019 and is currently serving his second term. In 2023, he earned a habilitation title for his research in interventional radiotherapy.

Dr. Wojcieszek believes that modern brachytherapy has a significant role in interdisciplinary oncology, particularly in difficult situations requiring efficient local treatment.
